Destination Wedding in Spain: Wedding Venues by the Sea
Looking for a destination wedding venue in Spain by the sea? I’m Anna, an English-speaking wedding planner based in Almería, planning weddings since 2010. My portfolio has twelve venues on the wild south-east coast: beach bars, private estates, fincas with a pool and small hotels above the bays of Cabo de Gata and Mojácar, for anything from two to 300 guests. Most of our weddings start at around €18,000 to €22,000 all-in, depending on guest count, venue and your wishes.
Why here
Why choose Almería for your destination wedding in Spain
Mallorca, Marbella and Barcelona are beautiful, but they are busy and expensive. The coast of Almería in south-east Spain is different: the Cabo de Gata natural park protects it from big hotels, so you get hidden coves, white villages and long beaches that still feel like a secret.
- Around 3,000 hours of sunshine and only about 25 rainy days a year
- Venues right by the sea, many of them yours alone for the whole weekend
- Often noticeably cheaper than Mallorca, Ibiza or Barcelona
- Easy to reach from the UK via Almería, Murcia, Alicante or Málaga
- Planned in English from the first call to the last dance
Airports, weather by month and the legal side for UK couples are all on Wedding in Almería, Cabo de Gata, Mojácar & Vera.
The venues
Wedding venues in Spain by the sea
Twelve places I know inside out, because I’ve stood there in January at noon and in July at sunset. I don’t publish venue names or prices here; you get the full details after our first call.
On the beach
Beach wedding venues
Ceremony barefoot in the sand, dinner with the waves below. A beach bar on Mojácar’s promenade for up to 150 guests and a chiringuito in Agua Amarga.
Private estates
Your own private estate
A whole little village or a cortijo above the sea that belongs to you and your guests for the weekend. Everyone sleeps on site.
Fincas
Fincas with a pool
Whitewashed fincas in the hills of Cabo de Gata, with a pool, fairy lights and room to dance until late.
Hotels
Boutique hotels by the sea
Small hotels above the bays of San José and Agua Amarga, with rooms for your guests and the kitchen in the house.
Big celebrations
Up to 300 guests
A bright white venue right above the sea west of Almería, with a large hall as plan B. For big families and long guest lists.
Intimate & rustic
Small and personal
An old horse cortijo near San José, a family house among the pines, round terraces above the sea: for couples who want it small and relaxed.
Also on the coast: a Mediterranean villa between Nerja and Frigiliana near Málaga for small weddings of up to 40 guests.

Questions
Destination wedding in Spain: your questions
Where is the best place in Spain for a destination wedding by the sea?
It depends on what you want. Mallorca and Marbella are glamorous but busy. The coast of Almería, with the Cabo de Gata natural park and Mojácar, is wilder and quieter, with private venues right by the sea and often lower prices.
How much does a destination wedding in Spain cost?
Most of our weddings start at around €18,000 to €22,000 all-in, depending on guest count, venue and your wishes. My planning starts at €4,950. Venue prices depend on date and guest count, so I share them after our first call.
Can we get married on the beach in Spain?
Yes. The easiest and most relaxed way is a symbolic ceremony at a venue right on the sand, such as a beach bar, where you have the space to yourselves, sound on site and a plan B.
How many guests can the venues take?
From just the two of you to around 300. Each venue has its own range, and at several private estates everyone can stay on site.
When is the best time for a wedding in Spain?
We plan weddings all year except August, which is too hot. April to June and September to October are the favourites: warm, dry and with soft evening light.
Is a wedding in Spain legally valid for UK couples?
Usually not on its own: a Spanish civil wedding needs one partner to be resident in Spain. Almost all UK couples marry legally at home and celebrate with a symbolic ceremony here.
Do you speak English?
Yes. All calls, documents and emails are in English, and on the day I translate between you and the Spanish suppliers.
Your wedding in Spain
Shall we plan yours?
Tell me your date and roughly how many guests, and I’ll send you my brochure and a link for a 20 to 30 minute call. Most of our weddings start at around €18,000 to €22,000 all-in, depending on guest count, venue and your wishes.
