The chiringuito on the sand

Of all my venues this is the only one where you genuinely marry with your feet in the sand. Not on a terrace above the beach, not with a sea view — in the sand.
A beach bar on the sand of Agua Amarga, the pale cliff as a backdrop, palm trees, white shade sails, blue-painted wooden chairs with rush seats. Nothing about it is styled, and that is precisely the point.
Proper beach feeling, a little bit Ibiza — but without the attitude.

There are no weddings here in summer
This is the most important information on the page, so it comes first: between mid June and the third week of September no weddings take place here.
The bar is open as normal during that time — it simply does not take events. The reason is simple and honest: it sits in the village, and someone lives right next door who would rather not have a wedding outside their door every weekend. I find that entirely reasonable, and I would rather say it now than have you fall in love with a place that is not available on your date.
Why that is not a drawback
Because the venue is out of the picture in high summer anyway, you can do something here that works nowhere else in my portfolio: start earlier.
Normally I put ceremonies in Andalusia in the late afternoon, because before that the heat eats everything. In October or in May that is not an issue. So: ceremony in the early afternoon, a long afternoon on the beach, dinner at sunset, party until midnight.
A whole day instead of an evening. And because it ends at midnight, nobody misses anything who would have gone to bed at two anyway.
You may decorate everything
That is by no means standard at beach bars — many will not let you touch their furnishings. Here you can design freely. In the pictures you see a wedding with generous pink bougainvillea above the table; it works just as well stripped back in white and sand.
The kitchen is in-house. If you want to bring a particular caterer, that is possible for a surcharge.
What you must know
There is no rain plan. No hall, no tent, no covered alternative. If it rains on your day or the wind turns, it gets uncomfortable. In Cabo de Gata that is rare — but rare is not never, and you should make this decision with your eyes open.
Anyone who cannot live with that is better off at one of my venues with a hall. Anyone who says “then we will dance in the rain” is exactly right here.
The chiringuito in pictures
Is this the right place for you?
Yes, if you …
- genuinely want to marry in the sand
- are marrying outside high summer
- would rather celebrate all day than only in the evening
- want to bring your own decoration ideas
- are relaxed about the weather
Probably not, if you …
- want to marry in July or August
- need a fallback if it rains
- want to celebrate until the morning
- are planning tall candles and light fabrics — it is breezy on the beach
Frequently asked
When can you marry here?
From the third week of September to early or mid June. In summer the bar takes no events because neighbours live right next door.
How many guests fit here?
30 to 150 guests.
Does the ceremony really take place on the beach?
Yes, directly in the sand.
Is there a rain plan?
No. There is no hall and no tent as an alternative.
How late can we celebrate?
Until midnight, one at the latest. That is why everything starts earlier in the day.
Where do the guests sleep?
A ten-room hotel next door belongs to the venue but does not have to be booked. Everything else is within walking distance in Agua Amarga.
Nearby
The chiringuito is also one of the ceremony spots for the quiet hotel up on the hillside — so you can marry by the water and celebrate above. The private finca sits in the same village.
