Welcome to Andalusia

Imagine this day

Morning on the terrace of your finca, still barefoot, coffee in hand, surrounded by the people who matter most to you. In the afternoon you stand by the sea, the water behind you, and say your vows – freely, with no rigid running order, exactly the way it feels right for the two of you. In the evening, a long table out in the open, good food, Spanish wine, the light turning gold. And the next morning you sit down to breakfast together again, as if no one is in any hurry to leave.

A wedding in Andalusia isn’t a single day to tick off a list. It’s a handful of days spent with the people you love.

The place

Why get married in Almería and Cabo de Gata?

Almería is the south of Spain as it used to be – honest, uncrowded, with room to breathe. Marry here and you don’t celebrate in an interchangeable venue, but in a landscape you won’t find twice: the last unspoilt corner of the Mediterranean coast, less than a two-hour flight from most of Europe.

The Cabo de Gata nature park

Volcanic cliffs, quiet coves, paths through cactus and wild thyme. A protected nature reserve right on the sea – the backdrop for outdoor ceremonies and photographs that actually look like somewhere.

The sea on your doorstep

Clear, turquoise water and beaches that aren’t buried under sun loungers. A ceremony by the sea isn’t the exception here – it’s exactly what couples travel for.

Fincas, white villages, real food

Country houses to celebrate and stay in, whitewashed villages in the hills, tapas and wine from the region. Everything it takes to make an evening long and lovely.

A way of life, not an item on a schedule

In Andalusia, nobody is in a rush. That easy pace carries straight over to your wedding – and to your guests.

Your planner on the ground

Why plan with me?

I live in Almería and have been planning weddings here for couples from abroad since 2010. I’m not the agency that emails you from a distance – I’m local, and I know the venues, the people and the roads in between.

  • On the ground, not at arm’s length. I visit every venue myself and I’m with you on the day from morning until late into the night.
  • Planning in your language. With you in English, and with the local suppliers in Spanish – you never have to worry about the language barrier.
  • Planning and design from one hand. I develop your concept and set up the styling and décor with my own team.
  • A network you can lean on. Florists, caterers, photographers, musicians, stylists – people I’ve worked with for years.
  • Experience with what can go wrong. Permits, transport, accommodation, timings. You don’t need to know any of it – that’s what I’m here for.

Real Wedding · Guardias Viejas, Costa de Almería

Hazel & Ben – from London to a beach in Andalusia

Hazel and Ben flew in from London to get married by the sea in southern Spain – and they were handed a day that could hardly have been sunnier, calmer or happier. On a lawn right at the water’s edge in Guardias Viejas stood a golden arch full of pampas grass, the Mediterranean stretching out wide and still behind it.

It started quietly: getting ready in soft morning light, her friends gathered around, the sea already glinting through the window. By the afternoon it was barefoot on warm stone, salt in the air, and that easy, unhurried zest for life that Andalusia does so well. A destination wedding exactly the way I love them – relaxed, personal, and full of real joy.

Anna Ambrosiewicz, wedding planner in Almeria, Ambrosia Wedding

Behind Ambrosia Wedding

Hi, I’m Anna

I moved to Almería more than ten years ago and have been planning weddings here since 2010 – for couples from the UK, Ireland, the US and, by now, all over the world. I studied event management and wedding planning, alongside communication and advertising – and I’m a graphic designer too. You can feel that combination in my work: I plan in a structured way, speak plainly with everyone involved, and at the same time shape a coherent picture of colour, décor and a thread that runs through your whole day.

What I love about this work? The moment a couple sits by the sea in the evening, having let everything go, simply happy. For that, I know every corner of Cabo de Gata – and every person it takes to make it happen.

Common questions

What couples often ask

Can you get married right on the beach in Andalusia?

Yes. Outdoor ceremonies on the beach are very possible in Almería and Cabo de Gata and one of the most common wishes. Beaches inside the nature park usually need a permit – I take care of that on the ground.

Can we plan our wedding from the UK, Ireland or the US?

Yes, that’s the norm. We plan everything by video call, email and phone, and you usually only arrive for the wedding itself. I’m on the ground the whole time.

Is our wedding in Spain legally binding?

Most international couples have a symbolic ceremony by the sea – freely designed, with a celebrant – and take care of the legal marriage at their registry office back home. It’s the simplest route and gives you complete freedom over where and how you celebrate. I’ll walk you through the options in our call.

What time of year is best for a wedding in Almería?

May, June, September and October are the favourites – warm, but not too hot. High summer works too; then we deliberately celebrate in the late afternoon and evening.

How long does it take to plan a destination wedding?

For a wedding with guests, around 9 to 15 months is ideal. Smaller, more intimate celebrations can happen on shorter notice.

Do you also arrange accommodation and guest transport?

Yes. I help you find fincas and accommodation and organise transport, so no one has to drive on the wedding day.

Can we plan a whole wedding weekend?

Yes. Many couples turn their wedding into a weekend with a welcome get-together, the wedding day and a relaxed farewell. That’s exactly what the Wedding Weekend format is for.

What languages does the planning happen in?

With you in English (or German), and with the local suppliers in Spanish. You never have to deal with the language barrier.

How much does a wedding in Andalusia cost?

It depends a lot on guest numbers, venue and your wishes. My planning fee for a destination wedding starts at €4,950 – venue, catering, florals and other suppliers come on top depending on your choices. In our discovery call I’ll put together a proposal that fits your scope.
