Your own village near Pozo de los Frailes

Aerial view of the garden estate near Pozo de los Frailes with pool and many separate guest houses

This venue is hard to describe without sounding like an exaggeration. So I will simply say it the way I say it to my couples: you rent an entire village for yourselves.

A huge garden estate with individual houses spread across it — large ones and small ones. Each has one, two or three double rooms, and every room has its own bathroom and its own terrace. In the middle lies the pool with a lawn, sun loungers and parasols. There is no reception to check in at. There is simply you.

I love it because it has that village feel. An Andalusian village.

Why this is not a hotel

At a wedding abroad the same question always comes up: how do we accommodate everyone without treading on each other’s toes? A hotel solves it with rooms along a corridor. Here it works differently.

Every family, every couple, every group gets a house of their own. With its own terrace, its own bathroom, its own rhythm. Whoever is awake at seven sits outside with a coffee. Whoever sleeps until noon disturbs nobody. And still you keep meeting — at the pool, on the way to breakfast, in the evening under the pergolas.

It feels as though you were all living in a village together for a few days. That is exactly why the estate works so well for groups of around 50: everyone stays together without sitting on top of each other.

How many guests really fit?

55 can sleep here. Considerably more can celebrate — up to 180. If your group is larger than the beds, the cortijo right next door can be added for accommodation; it belongs to someone else, but we arrange it.

There is a limit downwards as well: below 40 guests I would advise against it. The estate is large, the houses are spread out, and with twenty people the whole thing gets lost. Then one of my smaller venues suits you better.

Where you celebrate — and until when

Dinner and drinks happen outside: on the lower terrace with tables and pergolas, by the pool, in the corners in between. The party then moves indoors, into the party room — until two in the morning.

The reason for the time is honestly quite banal: another cortijo stands right next door, and people live there. So loud music outside cannot run all night. Indoors it can.

If it rains you move into the glazed pergola; for smaller groups the party room is enough. So you do not need an emergency plan — there are simply two places that both work.

What to know before you fall in love

The sea is not on your doorstep. It is about ten minutes by car to the nearest beach and village. If you want the ceremony with the sound of waves, you belong somewhere else.

In exchange you are completely among yourselves, on grounds where nobody gets bored, and at 25 minutes the airport is closer than for almost any other venue of mine.

The estate in pictures

Is this the right place for you?

Yes, if you …

  • have between 40 and 180 guests
  • want to spend several days together, not just an evening
  • want every family to have a house of its own
  • have guests who are unsteady on their feet
  • appreciate a short transfer from the airport

Probably not, if you …

  • have fewer than 40 guests — the estate is too large then
  • want to marry on the beach or with a sea view
  • want to celebrate outdoors until the morning
  • expect full board — the catering comes from outside

Nearby

Fewer guests? For smaller groups the finca above Agua Amarga fits better — one house for 35 instead of a whole village.
