There are moments you don’t plan — they just happen. Katharina had tears in her eyes even before she’d taken her first step onto the sand. Behind her lay the dunes; in front of her stood Roman, the altar of white flowers, and beyond it — the sea. The distinctive rock formation of Cabo de Gata. A landscape you couldn’t invent even if you tried.

Ihre Hochzeit am 2. Oktober 2025 in San José war genau das: unverstellt, warm und so ehrlich wie die Gegend selbst.

Zwischen Agaven und Meer — die Zeremonie in Cabo de Gata

Die Zeremonie fand direkt am Strand statt — auf Sand, zwischen wild gewachsenen Agaven, mit dem Meer im Rücken. Für mich eine der schönsten Locations überhaupt: keine Wand, kein Zelt, keine Konstruktion. Nur Landschaft, Licht und diese zwei Menschen.

Die Gäste reisten aus ganz Europa an — das sah man an den Outfits. Mintgrüne Jumpsuits, fuchsiafarbene Kleider, Strohhüte. Papier-Sonnenschirme für jeden Platz: praktisch bei Oktober-Sonne in Andalusien und gleichzeitig so schön im Bild. Katharina und Roman hatten bei allem ein klares Gespür — wenig, aber das Richtige.

Während der Trauzeremonie war es so still, dass man das Meer hören konnte. Roman las seine Worte mit gesenktem Blick — und als er fertig war, schüttelte er kurz den Kopf und lachte leise. Katharina lächelte ihn an wie jemand, der schon längst weiß, dass er der Richtige ist.

Der Moment, für den man Hochzeitsplanerin wird

Ich stehe bei jeder Zeremonie an der Seite — und trotzdem verschluckt mich dieser Anblick jedes Mal. Beim Ringwechsel hält man kurz den Atem an. Diese zwei kleinen Ringe, die plötzlich alles bedeuten.

Und dann dieser erste Kuss. Weißes Blumendekor links und rechts, das Meer dahinter, die Agaven als natürliche Kulisse. Kein Fotograf der Welt muss daran etwas inszenieren — dieser Moment inszeniert sich selbst.

Konfetti, Applaus und eine Mutter, die weint

Beim Auszug riss Katharina den Strauß in die Luft. Nicht weil jemand gesagt hätte „jetzt jubeln“ — sondern weil man einfach muss. Dieser Moment war so echt, so ungestellt, so sie.

Die Gäste bildeten Spalier und warfen Konfetti. Roman lachte so laut, dass man ihn vermutlich auf der anderen Seite des Naturparks gehört hat. Eine Hochzeit in Cabo de Gata in Spanien fühlt sich eben nicht nach Protokoll an — sie fühlt sich nach echtem Leben an.

Direkt danach — Umarmungen. Mutter, Vater, Freunde. Katharina hielt ihre Mutter lange fest. Das ist der Moment, den ich immer heimlich festhalte — nicht mit der Kamera, sondern im Kopf. Genau deswegen mache ich diesen Job.

Goldenes Licht, kühles Bier und der Pool im Abendrot

Zwischen Zeremonie und Aperitivo gibt es immer diesen kurzen Moment — wo das Brautpaar kurz durchatmet, Hand in Hand steht und noch gar nicht fassen kann, was gerade passiert ist. Dieser Schnappschuss sagt mehr als tausend gestellte Porträts.

Then the aperitif under the olive tree. Roman was still wearing his jacket and raised his beer — as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Relaxed, happy, at home. That’s the feeling of this wedding.

The pool bathed in the evening glow, the mountains of Almería behind it, a sign that simply says ‘The Muths’. That atmosphere at 7 pm in October — you don’t need any filters. The light does it all.

What I particularly loved about Katharina and Roman’s wedding was that they didn’t want a fussy programme. Just turn up, have a drink, have a laugh, have a chat. The aperitif lasted nearly two hours and nobody looked at their watch. That’s what happens when the venue is just right — and when the hosts are relaxed.

Fairy lights, lemons and a room that takes your breath away

Then there was the dining room. I’d seen it again on my own just before — before the guests arrived — and thought: this is it. Two long tables, fairy lights cascading from the ceiling, citrus fruits amongst the flowers. Simple, yet utterly stunning.

Each place setting had its own menu — bearing the guest’s name and tied with a little bow. You see details like that in the photos and wonder: who thinks of things like that? Katharina. Of course.

As they entered the dinner venue, they walked slowly — hand in hand, laughing. You could tell that they were really enjoying the moment and weren’t just rushing off to the next part of the programme.

The guests clapped and whistled. Someone shouted something in English, and everyone laughed. This wedding had that energy from start to finish — international, relaxed, warm and friendly.

Katharina’s outfit was a two-piece ensemble — a lace crop top that left her midriff bare, paired with a long white skirt. I’ve rarely seen anything so modern and yet so timeless. Roman wore a beige linen suit with a mint-green bow tie. The two of them have a real eye for how an outfit should look — and it really shows.

Fringes, fairy lights and the first dance under the open sky

Katharina had changed for the first dance — a white mini-dress with fringes and feathers. The first dance took place outside, under fairy lights, surrounded by all the guests. The bloke standing next to me was secretly filming and crying as he did so. All I can say is: I understand him perfectly.

What remains

Weddings at Cabo de Gata in Spain have a certain something that’s hard to put into words. The landscape is rugged yet incredibly delicate. The light in October is perfect — no longer scorching hot, but still warm enough that nobody feels the cold. And the nature reserve lends every photo a depth that no studio can replicate.

Katharina and Roman knew this. That’s why they chose this setting. And that’s why I’ll remember this wedding for a long time to come.
