Whenever we talk about this greenery wedding in Spain, we say: “Ah, our Carmen.” A few years ago Carmen won a place at our wedding photo workshop here in Andalusia. Nobody guessed back then that it was the start of a friendship, and certainly not that our workshop venue would one day be her wedding venue.
A few years later she got the proposal, in Cabo de Gata of course, and asked me to be her wedding planner. I didn’t have to think about that.
Getting ready
Carmen is half Spanish, so half the guests came from Spain and the other half from Germany.
The ceremony on the fortress above the sea
Getting married by the sea doesn’t always have to mean sand. The ceremony took place on an old fortress, high above the rocks, with a wonderful panorama.

Greenery decor: silver instead of gold
This time there was no gold in the concept, but silver. Something new for us. Together with lots of green and a dark blue it became a greenery wedding at its finest, suited to the venue and, of course, with lots of details. Just take a look at the table decor.
A party late into the night
The party was at the pool of one of our favourite venues. And believe me, it was a party. The last thing we saw was a crowd of people of all ages on the dance floor.

What is a greenery wedding?
A wedding where green plays the main role: leaves, ferns, monstera and succulents instead of masses of blooms, combined with an accent colour such as silver or gold.
When is the best time for a wedding in Almería?
April to June and September to October are the most popular months. In July we move the ceremony to the late afternoon, and we don’t plan weddings in August because it is too hot.
Can you get married on a fortress in Spain?
As a symbolic ceremony, yes, at some historic places in Cabo de Gata. We sort out the permission and schedule for you.
