Sometimes you know from the very first meeting that it’s going to be loud. I first met Tallula and Antonio right there in Agua Amarga \u2014 and they told me about their idea straight away: “We want our Mamma Mia wedding.” No stiff formalities. No protocol. Just sun, sea, bougainvillea all the way to the horizon \u2014 and a party people would still talk about ten years later.<\/p>\n

That’s exactly what we built. On the beach in Agua Amarga, right in the heart of Cabo de Gata. And I’ll say it straight away: this beach wedding in Cabo de Gata<\/strong> was one of the most joyful, warm-hearted, colourful ones I’ve been part of in a long time. Two Scots, a whole lot of pink, a little bit of blue, and a saxophone that pulled everyone off their seats.<\/p>\n

The morning: pink heels and flowers in her hair<\/h2>\n

It started the way a day like this should \u2014 with laughter. Tallula got ready with her mum and her girls, windows open, the light of Agua Amarga in the room, music playing somewhere. And then those shoes appeared: pink platform heels, tall as a balcony. Very Mamma Mia. Very Tallula.<\/p>\n

Instead of a classic veil, there was bougainvillea. Real blooms, tucked into her hair, pink against blonde. One of those little moments that sums up the whole idea of the day: nothing staged, everything real, all of it made from what grows on every wall around here anyway.<\/p>\n

And then her dad. There’s this one look a father gives when he sees his daughter in her dress \u2014 you can’t plan it and you can’t buy it. It just happens.<\/p>\n

Antonio got ready with his boys at the same time. Beige linen suits, boutonnieres with \u2014 of course \u2014 bougainvillea, plenty of grinning. A crew you liked instantly.<\/p>\n

El Beach, Agua Amarga \u2014 where Cabo de Gata tips into the sea<\/h2>\n

Anyone who’s been to Agua Amarga knows why I love this village so much. White houses, a crescent-shaped beach, the bare mountains of the natural park behind it. And right in the middle, El Beach \u2014 straight on the sand, with palm trees and a view of the sea. A sailing boat lay anchored offshore, as if someone had placed it there for the photo.<\/p>\n

\"Bougainvillea<\/p>\n

The decor: pink and a little bit of blue, exactly as Tallula had wished. Bougainvillea wherever you looked. Blue glasses on long tables, wildflowers, linen in the breeze.<\/p>\n

\"Wedding<\/p>\n

And then the seating plan \u2014 my favourite idea. Instead of a classic table list, every guest got their own little bottle of limoncello. Each label carried a small quiz: a description of the person they’d be sitting next to, so you had to guess your neighbour first. And that rich yellow was the perfect counterpoint to all the pink, too.<\/p>\n

My favourite detail? The heart-shaped sunglasses for the guests. “To our favorite people” it read at the welcome table. Small, playful, and by the end everyone was wearing them on the dance floor.<\/p>\n

The ceremony: barefoot in the sand under a flower arch<\/h2>\n

And then it went quiet \u2014 briefly. The bougainvillea arch stood right by the water, nothing behind it but sea and sky. Guests on their chairs in the sand, a few parasols against the midday sun, and everyone waiting for Tallula.<\/p>\n

\"Ceremony<\/p>\n

She came on her dad’s arm. The bridesmaids in different shades of pink ahead of her, each holding a bouquet made from exactly the blooms that grew everywhere. It all fit together without ever looking coordinated.<\/p>\n

\"Bridesmaids<\/p>\n

They’d written their own vows. There was laughter, there were tears, and when the kiss came, half the beach roared. So loud you must have heard it all the way into the village.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

The recessional wasn’t a dignified walk but one big cheer. Fans in the air, confetti, tears and laughter all at once. Exactly how a beach wedding in Cabo de Gata<\/strong> should be when two people are simply, completely happy.<\/p>\n

\"Joyful<\/p>\n

Saxophone, DJ and pizza in the sand<\/h2>\n

After the ceremony the day tipped fully into celebration mode. A saxophonist played live for the aperitivo \u2014 barefoot in the sand, right in among the guests, and she had the whole crowd going. Then the DJ took over. There was really good Spanish food, cold wine, and the dance floor was full before the first song had even finished.<\/p>\n

These guests. I’ve rarely seen a crew like it \u2014 all in from the very first minute, nobody sitting, nobody holding back. Party people in the best sense. And Tallula danced in her dress like there was no tomorrow.<\/p>\n

\"Bride<\/p>\n

The classic sign of a great party: after a few hours on the dance floor the hunger hit \u2014 so we simply ordered pizza. There’s no better proof of a wedding done right than happy people eating pizza barefoot in the sand and then running straight back to dance.<\/p>\n

“Anna, we genuinely cannot thank you enough. It was everything we had ever dreamed of and more. One of my friends reminded me that, years ago in Agua Amarga, I had described my ‘dream wedding day’ \u2014 and every single thing I described was exactly how the day turned out, from the decorations and coordination to the vibes, music and food. Every tiny little detail was perfect and you picked up on absolutely everything. We completely trusted you from the beginning and honestly could not have imagined it any better.”<\/p>\n

What stays<\/h2>\n

Tallula and Antonio didn’t want a perfect wedding. They wanted their wedding \u2014 loud, warm, full of colour, with all the people they love. Two Scots who turned Cabo de Gata into their very own little Mamma Mia for a day. And honestly: it doesn’t get much sweeter or happier than this.<\/p>\n
