Some weddings go exactly as planned. And then there are those weddings \u2014 the ones that make you laugh, the ones you look back on with a broad grin on your face. Shenthujan and Jenitha definitely fall into the second category.The couple have Sri Lankan roots, live in Switzerland \u2014 and, by the time they came to visit us in Andalusia, had already had two weddings behind them. The civil ceremony in Switzerland. A traditional ceremony. And now, in Agua Amarga, they wanted just one thing: to celebrate with their loved ones. A big party. No formalities. Just pure joy.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s exactly what it turned out to be. With a little surprise thrown in \u2014 but let\u2019s take it one step at a time.<\/p>\n

Getting Ready: That quiet moment before the laughter<\/h2>\n

The morning got off to a wonderful start. Jenitha was sitting on the terrace, with the sea in the distance, whilst her make-up artist transformed her face into a radiant work of art. She laughed, scrolled through her mobile, and savoured every moment. No stress, no rush.<\/p>\n

Shenthujan was getting ready on the other side of the hotel \u2014 cool, laid-back, completely himself. A man who knows this is going to be a good day. Spoiler: It was. But not without a few laughs along the way.<\/p>\n

The ceremony: Improvised. Unforgettable. On the cliffs of Agua Amarga.<\/h2>\n
The plan was for a non-religious wedding ceremony \u2014 conducted by a close friend of the couple. Sounds romantic. It is. And then the friend came up to me and said, \u201cI\u2019ll be giving the speech.\u201d Me, being practical: \u201cGreat \u2014 and how long will it take, so I know when you\u2019ll be back at the venue?\u201d Him, completely relaxed: \u201cOh, about five minutes.\u201dShenthujan looked at me. I looked at him. Five minutes. You\u2019re heading up onto the cliffs for five minutes.<\/p>\n

Luckily, Marit \u2014 our freelance celebrant \u2014 was already there anyway. Without further ado, she sat down, interviewed the bride and groom, took in their story, and turned it into a beautiful, personal wedding ceremony. With genuine words, genuine moments \u2014 and a proper wedding ceremony on the rocks above the sea. And the friend? He got to deliver his five minutes too, of course. So everyone had their moment in the spotlight.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what I love about this job. The little unplanned moments that turn out to be the best in the end. And that\u2019s what a wedding planner is there for, after all \u2014 to improvise with a twinkle in their eye when it really counts.<\/p>\n

Die Menschen, die diesen Tag m\u00f6glich gemacht haben<\/h2>\n

Shenthujan and Jenitha were joined by their closest friends \u2014 all of whom had travelled from Switzerland for this one day in Andalusia. The bridesmaids, in their pale pink and lavender dresses, parasols in hand, stood on the cliff overlooking the sea. It\u2019s a sight I\u2019ll never forget.<\/p>\n

Wedding portraits: Two people, one landscape, a thousand emotions<\/h2>\n

Cabo de Gata is not a gentle place. It is rugged, wild, unvarnished. Just as love sometimes is. Shenthujan and Jenitha lost themselves \u2014 and found each other \u2014 in this landscape. Every photo captures a moment that was genuine. No posing. No acting. Just the two of them.<\/p>\n

The venue: A dreamlike outdoor wedding in Andalusia<\/h2>\n
Agua Amarga is one of my favourite villages on the Andalusian coast \u2014 small, quiet, unspoilt. And the boutique hotel where we celebrated is one of the most beautiful and luxurious I know. A pool that reflects the sky. Cacti, palm trees, white stone walls. And in between: long wooden tables, pampas grass, white flowers, golden details, fairy lights that seemed to stretch into the night.In the evening, the hotel was transformed into something magical. The fairy lights came on. The candles on the tables flickered. The pool glowed blue. And above it all \u2014 the Andalusian starry sky.<\/p>\n

Shenthujan and Jenitha wanted a party. And they got one. With live guitar music, a long dinner under the stars, a group photo that looks like a film poster, and a bride who danced late into the night as if there were no tomorrow.<\/p>\n

What remains<\/h2>\n

Shenthujan and Jenitha wanted to celebrate. And that\u2019s exactly what they did \u2014 surrounded by their loved ones, in one of the most beautiful corners of Andalusia, with a night that simply didn\u2019t want to end. What more could you ask for?<\/p>\n

Sometimes it\u2019s precisely the unplanned moments that make a day unforgettable. I think they both realise that now, too.<\/p>\n
