Wedding venues in Almer\u00eda and Cabo de Gata<\/h1>\n

Most couples who write to me have never heard of Almer\u00eda. They know Mallorca, they know M\u00e1laga, and then they go looking for Almer\u00eda on the map. That is completely normal \u2014 and honestly, it is the reason this place is still so beautiful.<\/p>\n

On this page you will find the twelve places where I have been planning weddings since 2010. Not a database, not a list I copied from somewhere. I have been to every single one of them myself \u2014 in the morning, in the evening, in January and in August. And that is what you get here: not just how pretty it is, but how loud, how windy, how late you are allowed to celebrate and what happens when it rains.<\/p>\n

Why you will not find any names here<\/h2>\n

You will not be able to google a single one of these places, and that is on purpose.<\/p>\n

Some of them are private fincas whose owners do not want enquiries from the internet. With others, a lot depends on who negotiates for you. I pass the names on in conversation, as soon as it is clear that we will work together. What you get here is everything else: how many guests fit, where everyone sleeps, how long the music may run.<\/p>\n

And if you end up saying „the third one, with the round terraces“ \u2014 then we are already halfway there.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

How to find the right one<\/h2>\n

After fifteen years I know this much: couples do not decide by photographs. They decide by four questions, and they usually ask them too late.<\/p>\n

How many guests are really coming?<\/strong> This is the hardest filter. A venue for 150 looks lost with 20 guests, and a house for 12 will not hold your family.<\/p>\n

Should everyone sleep in the same place?<\/strong> It makes an enormous difference whether your guests drive home in the evening or whether everybody has breakfast together. Some of my venues are entire villages; others are pure celebration spaces where guests sleep in the village.<\/p>\n

How long do you want to celebrate?<\/strong> This is where my venues differ most. At one, it ends at midnight because someone lives next door. At another there is no curfew at all. That decides your whole evening \u2014 and nobody asks about it beforehand.<\/p>\n

And what if it rains?<\/strong> It rarely rains in Cabo de Gata. But rarely is not never, and on exactly one day of the year you would not shrug it off. Some places have a hall that fits everyone. One has nothing at all. It says so on every page.<\/p>\n

When in the year?<\/h2>\n

Almost always. You can marry here all year round \u2014 in winter too, if you can live with a jumper in the evening, and in spring when the almond trees are in blossom. There is no season I would talk you out of.<\/p>\n

Except August.<\/strong> It is so hot that practically nobody marries here then, and I do not offer the month at all. You would spend the whole day in the shade, and so would your guests. The rest of the year is yours.<\/p>\n

Nine double rooms, each with its own terrace. You cook for yourselves and dance until three in the morning. The venue where I have planned more weddings than anywhere else.<\/p>\n

Right at the top of the hill, with the whole sea in front of you. Your own little house as a couple, a restaurant in-house \u2014 and inside, the music runs until six in the morning.<\/p>\n

Everyone sleeps under one roof, and the beach is one flight of steps down. There is no pool here. The pool is the sea.<\/p>\n

A white hall for 100 guests with a skylight, and a round former stable where people now dance. Step-free, music until four.<\/p>\n

For the big weddings. No curfew, no neighbours, and a wide view across the steppe to the most beautiful beach in the area.<\/p>\n

Many small houses in one large garden, each with its own terrace. Everyone together \u2014 and still, every family has a house of their own.<\/p>\n

Los Escullos · 40–300 guests<\/p>\n

Circular terraces, completely open above the coast. You marry inside a circle with the sea as your horizon. Ceremony, dinner, party and bed in one place.<\/p>\n

Right on the promenade, terraces on several levels. Hotels in every price range within walking distance \u2014 the answer when your guests have very different budgets.<\/p>\n

Twelve suites, some with a jacuzzi. Officially adults only \u2014 book it exclusively and the children may come. Two nights are compulsory, so it becomes a weekend anyway.<\/p>\n

The only one outside Cabo de Gata \u2014 and the only one for genuinely large weddings. A bright hall with a sea view as the rain plan, no curfew indoors, buses for your guests.<\/p>\n

Two areas where everything fits together<\/h2>\n

Something you cannot see on a map: my venues are not scattered at random. They sit in two areas, and within each area almost everything can be combined.<\/p>\n

Around San Jos\u00e9<\/strong> three houses belong to the same operator, plus their own stretch of beach. You can marry among the agaves by the sea, celebrate at the cortijo and split your guests between two hotels. For large groups this is often the simplest solution there is.<\/p>\n

In Agua Amarga<\/strong> four venues sit in the same village. The beach bar on the sand is also an official ceremony spot for the hotel up on the hillside. So you can marry down by the water and celebrate up above, without anyone driving far.<\/p>\n

And what does it cost?<\/h2>\n

You will not find prices here, and not because I am being mysterious. A number without context is worthless: at a finca you pay for the venue, at a hotel your guests pay for their own rooms \u2014 and suddenly the expensive venue is the cheaper one.<\/p>\n
